IBM has collaborated with Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), to launch two Post graduate programs under the Faculty of Computer Science Engineering with specialization in Cloud Computing and Big Data & Analytics and Internet of Things (IoT). These Post Graduation M.Tech. programs are designed to train the students in the areas of Computing and Information Technology and provide specialization in cutting-edge technologies that are driving the next wave of innovation and growth.

Under this collaboration and in line with IBM Career Education program, the university has set up IBM Software Lab for Emerging Technologies at the Bangalore campus that will help students and faculty members master advanced Information Technology (IT) skills needed for 21st century workplace.Under this collaboration, IBM is setting up IBM Software Lab for Emerging Technologies at DSU Bangalore campus that will help students master the advanced Computing and IT skills.

The program is designed in-line with the current global best practices where Core subjects give the advanced foundation, and the Electives give a wide scope to specialize in the areas of Cloud Computing, Big Data and Internet of Things. Students will undergo experiential learning modules along with innovative curriculum jointly developed and taught by IBM and university, while working on projects that emanate from real-world business scenarios. This approach will help to foster the innovative and research capabilities in the students.

The programs will be jointly delivered by IBM subject matter experts from its India Software Labs and university faculty. Relevant IBM software and curriculum content will be available to the faculty members and students in the lab to earn credits towards their degrees. Further, the CSE department of the university has also collaborated with the other industry participants to provide hands-on exposure to real-life problems to ensure that the students are adept at solving industry problems.

Students undergoing these programs will acquire requisite skills and development experience to ensure a journey of accelerated growth in innovation and technology leadership roles in truly global context.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering has contributed enormously in the growth of technology. The scope of the branch is a wide horizon covering System Design, materials, composites, CAD/CAM/CAE/CIM/CE/FMS/ MEMS/Robotics/Nano Technology with wide range of applications to the societal benefit. The Department aims to produce quality professionals in Mechanical Engineering to compete globally by forging strong industry-institute interaction.

The post graduation program in Mechanical Engineering lays emphasis on advanced learning with emphasis on synthesis, design and optimization. The core subjects lay the foundation and department electives and institutional electives provide an opportunity to the student to diversify in the area of interest such as Design Engineering, Thermal engineering, Manufacturing, and Inter Disciplinary area. The internship will provide a real time learning and seminars, mini projects and dissertation help to temper the innovative and research capabilities.

The research in the Department leading to Ph. D. Program is concentrated in the thrust areas. The department offers its faculty several facilities for initiating and sustaining research activities. The faculty of the Department closely interact with the industry in keeping up with the latest trends in research and development as well as the training of the students and development of curriculum in accordance with the global trends.

This program provides the breadth of domains covering advanced areas of computing and also gives an opportunity to specialize in the domain of Big Data.

"Big data" is high-volume, high velocity and high variety information assets that demand cost-effective, innovative forms of information processing for enhanced insight and decision making. The field of big data deals with the native data-capture technology and processes required for such high volume, ability to manage variable velocity within a dataset, and multiple forms, types and structures to manage variety of data.

M.Tech in Automotive Electronics (Specialization in Automotive embedded systems):

One of the fastest domains is the automotive sector where several Electronics Control units (ECU) are used to control and manage various units in the car. A modern car has as many as 100 ECU’s. As per the report by IC Insight, the value of semiconductor in the vehicles has moved from $268 to $425 per vehicle and the number of smart vehicles has moved from 15 million in 2009 to over 55 million in 2014. The drivers of growth are communication, entertainment, green initiatives such as reduced emission, active safety and telematics.

The Opportunity:

Embedded systems in automotive is a growing opportunity where embedded systems are already being used for comfort and convenience, infotainment, instrument cluster, engine management, Safety (ABS, Airbags) and diagnostics.

Program Details:

This program is designed as a simulated embedded lab for the automotive sector. The Innovation Automotive Embedded System lab contains the complete ECUs for all domains such as engine management system, safety, comfort and convenience, infotainment, after market and autonomous driving. Candidates get a hands-on experience on designing applications on each of these modules. Candidates also get to master the design and testing using the complete lifecycle of development using simulators that are used by the industry. While the candidate develops mastery over embedded systems design and development for any industry, the candidate gets in-depth hands-on experience of the automotive embedded system.

Eligibility

Admission to the School of Engineering is done through Entrance Examination conducted by the University and others such as CET and DSAT examinations

Pass in B.E. / B.Tech examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in relevant field and DSAT / GATE / PGCET score.

Engineering & Entrepreneurship programs Admission- DSAT Scores and Interviews

Admission to the MTech in Engineering & Entrepreneurship programs would go through a special interview process in addition to DSAT Scores. Applicants have to submit their original ideas which they feel are good for transition into finish products. This national level selection would be routed through an eminent panel of industry experts, scientists, investors, researchers and academicians; and potential mentors/ adjunct professors.

IBM Software Lab for Emerging Technologies to provide world class software education to graduate students

Bengaluru, July 24, 2015: IBM (NYSE: IBM) has collaborated with Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), to launch three new Post graduate programs under the Faculty of Computer Science Engineering with specialization in Cloud Computing, Big Data & Analytics and Internet of Things (IoT).

Under this collaboration and in line with IBM Education program, the organization will set up IBM Software Lab for Emerging Technologies at the Institute’s Bangalore campus that will help students and faculty members master advanced Information Technology (IT) skills needed for 21st century workplace.

Faculty

School of Engineering under Dayananda Sagar University provides Science & Technology based Education required to develop high calibre Engineers suitable for Industry and Scientific Organization. The curriculum focuses on knowledge based course work integrated with skill development as a part of training. It equally helps in inculcating the scientific temper necessary for the Lifelong learning process.

At the Under Graduate level, a student goes through the foundation courses in Science, Humanities and Engineering. Each department ensures that the courses cover both Core & Electives as required. Provision for open elective help the students to acquire inter-disciplinary knowledge or specialize significantly in an area outside the parent discipline. At the Post Graduate level, students are exposed to knowledge beyond their specialization and help in broadening their horizons of thought process.

The School of Engineering follows two compulsory Semesters in a year with an option of a supplementary III Semester as a makeup semester. The I Semester begins from 1st August, II Semester from 1st December, and Supplementary Semester from 1st of April.
